Count down to December 21, 2012.
Our galaxy has a center which all the stars take millions of years to revolve around, and it is located in the starriest part of the Milky Way, as seen from Earth. On four occasions within the 25,800-year cycle our galactic center aligns with the sunrise of a solstice or equinox. The last time it occurred was on a fall equinox 6,450 years ago, approximately the dawn of Old World civilizations. On Dec 21, 2012, which is a winter solstice (Northern Hemisphere) this center will align with our sun once more.

You've probably heard of Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius. The sun passes through these constellations, one by one, throughout the year. They're the ancient signs of the zodiac.

Then there is Ophiuchus the Serpent Bearer! The 13th Zodiac.

Modern astronomers don't divide the sky the same way ancient astronomers did. According to modern star maps, the sun cuts through a 13th constellation, Ophiuchus the Serpent Bearer, between Nov. 30th and Dec. 17th. Astrologically speaking, if you were born between those dates you're no longer a Sagittarian, you're an Ophiuchi! But that's another story....

This story is about what really happens when the sun enters the zodiac's 13th house: An interstellar wind hits our planet.

It's a helium-rich breeze from the stars, flowing into the solar system from the direction of Ophiuchus. The sun's gravity focuses the material into a cone and Earth passes through it during the first weeks of December.

So what do you think will happen on 12/21/12?

Things may start to jangle long before the cone arrives at complete focus.
Mars is also on it's jouney away from the Earth after being at the closest
influence in a 3000 year cycle. The relaxing of that clench should become apparent. Curious work you have here. The imagery presents the dynamics of the ancient knowledge. Thanks for your efforts.

If the Aztec and Mayan calendars only went to 2012, then the world as we know it will change. I don't know what will happen. we might all die. I don't want to die. :(

I wouldn't take it too seriously. Tomorrow is never a guaranty anyway. Live for today.

No, thank you for taking the time to stop by and look. As far as ancient knowledge goes, I wish I knew and understood more. You could spend a life time studying this kind of stuff and still not be any closer to understanding. I think its incredible how much the ancients understood, but alas, their civilization still ended up becoming just a memory.

My favourite theory of the apocalypse remains the mathematical one :

I don't remember the exact calculus since I read it very long ago, but the idea is that if you calculate the probabilty of the event "the apocalypse happens in one second", it is higher than any event "the apocalypse happens in X seconds" with X greater than 1.

Conclusion : Just ignore Doomsday theories and live for today.

On the more esthetic side, this flash is very unusual and pretty well done. Good job.

Interesting theory. My thoughts are this...
Infinity exist within a singularity. Thus all time is taking place simultaneously. Everything that was, is and will be all at once. So the apocalypse and the the creation are really happening at the same time. We just perceive it linearly.
Of course, I could be wrong?

Anyway, thanks for the comment.
:iconalikat-young:
good point.

The design is GREAT! Where did you get the clock image? Did you draw that? Cool animation, too!

However, in regards to the prophecy of doom? Don't be too sure. There have been prophecies of doom for eons and all dates have come and gone and we're STILL HERE. [And offing yourself because some lunatic says it's the end of the world, doesn't count. It may be the end of that person's world but it's NOT the end of THE world.]
And some prophecies could be of the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT, but doesn't necessarily mean the DESTRUCTION of the planet or humankind. I'm sure the Pompeiians, or more recently the inhabitants of the Indian Ocean coasts, thought it was the end of the world, and it was...for them, but not the end of the entire world.
Another view you might find unusual, different or interesting is some of Zechriah Sitchin's theories on ancient history and civilizations.

I firmly believe in our individual right to believe in whatever the individual wants to believe, as long as it doesn't infringe on someone else's rights.

Thanks.
I didn't draw the actual art. I was more interested in the flash build and didn't want to spend that much time and energy on the illustration. I did some research on Aztec and Mayan calenders and that image kept popping up on my various google searches. I debated between the Mayan Calender but felt the Aztec was more appealing visually. As far as the end of the world, who knows. I merely was doing something artistic with a subject I find interesting. I don't personally believe the world is going to end at that point and time, but I do believe that something historic will and is taking place. Nephilim show up claiming to be Aliens that created mankind?; Mega Volcano (Yellowstone Caldera?); Comet strike (like the 1908 Siberian explosion?), who knows? In the end, what ever happens, happens. Enjoy life today and don't worry about it.
